About The RolyPig

How It Works

Kitchen waste and garden waste(ideally shredded) is loaded into the Rolypig`s mouth and drops into the first compartment. Then, say a week later when the kitchen waste bucket is full again, feed the Rolypig again but this time,to make room, roll the Rolypig in the direction of the arrows on the body.

Roll it ONE flat along and the material first added, say a week ago, is moved away from the mouth input shute giving room for the next bucketful of waste.

It is only necessary to move the Rolypig to make room for the new waste to be added(move a maximum of two flat surfaces).

The Rolypig has 4 compartments.

If you need to move the Rolypig more than three flat surfaces per week then this will result in material passing through too quickly for optimum breakdown. Shredding all of the material fed to the Rolypig will increase the effectiveness of the Rolypig if your volume of waste is near to the capacity of the Rolypig.

The Rolypig is designed to handle the kitchen and garden waste from an average household.

The first compartment empties into the second compartment when the Rolypig has completed a whole revolution of ten flat surfaces. The first compartment is then empty and can receive new waste which is then completely separate from the previous waste which is now in the second compartment.

As the above process of adding new waste and rolling the Rolypig one or two flats at a time continues, eventually the third and fourth compartments are brought into use. The end of the cycle is achieved when compartment number four discharges its contents into the integral rear drawer as the Rolypig is rolled to make room for a new bucket of waste.

When material appears in the rear drawer it is necessary to remove the drawer and empty the contents eg to mulch around shrubs etc. Because material flows from one compartment to the next and finally into the rear discharge drawer, the Rolypig never becomes `full` to the top and ,therefore the operating effort required is relatively low.
